Gollis University awards certificate, associate baccalaureate, & masters degrees. The university calendar includes a fall and spring semester, and evening and extension programs delivered in modular and cohort sessions. The university offers masters degree in Business administration (MBA) and baccalaureate degrees in: Business & information technology, teacher education, and Criminal Justice & Police Science, law & sharia, and Engineering. By developing these programs, the university responded to the country's needs.  A unique and rewarding blend of traditional-age students and those returning to school as adults (mainly teachers, and in-service police officers) will comprises more than half of the student population. A uniquely personalized atmosphere is made possible by an exceptionally low student/faculty ratio.

The instructural programs of the University will offer the following options to its students:

One, two, four,  & six-year programs to earn a certificate, associate, bachelor's, & masters degree.

 

 

ACADEMIC PROGRAMS

 

SCHOOL OF MANAGMENT SCIENCE & INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY

GRADUATE STUDIES
The Master of Business Administration program is the principle graduate program of School of Management Science & Information Technology at
Gollis University. The program is designed to enable graduate students to become professional leaders who are committed to make a positive difference equipping them with skills that can be directly applied in the workplace. The integrative nature of the curriculum seeks to link theory with practice, as well as address current and emerging issues such as total quality management and global competitiveness.

Graduates of Gollis University’s MBA program possess:

  • Business Knowledge – Executive, strategic and operational understanding of core concepts of each of the business disciplines, their interrelationships and the ability to acquire new information as it is developed.
  • Analytical Skills – Analytical techniques and related computer software packages in the various business disciplines and their managerial applications.
  • Managerial Skills – Leadership, facilitation, negotiation and coordination techniques used in the management of people and organizations.
  • Integrative Skills – The ability to integrate business knowledge, analytical skills and managerial skills into effective actions.

In fulfilling the stated mission, the School of Management Science & Information Technology is committed to pursuing the following goals:

  • providing degree programs and course offering that meet the ever-changing needs of students and employers
  • creating motivational learning environments that meet the individual needs of a diverse student body,

  •  Involving students and faculty members in developing programs and courses responsive to changes in the business world,
  • ensuring that each faculty member accomplishes a set of teaching, community service and research and publication goals that meshes with the goals of the College, and

CRIMINAL JUSTICE & POLICE SCIENCE

The goal of the Criminal Justice and Police science Program is to meet the needs of the citizens of the Republic of Somaliland and their law enforcement agencies. The program is designed to better assist law enforcement officers in the performance of their duties. Our curriculum provides students with opportunities to learn about the theoretical underpinnings of law enforcement and modern applications of policing in Somaliland bench marked against those in the developed world. Exposure is given in the areas of general law enforcement, investigations, community relations, ethics, corrections, and legal aspects. The objectives of the selected courses are to foster the development of students who are able to understand and discuss, with a critical thinking application, the following:

  • Historical, legal and ethical foundations of police organization and administration
  • Major components of the criminal justice process
  • Courses are taught by full time local faculty and guidance is given to the student by this faculty

 CIVIL ENGINEERING PROGRAM
The mission of the civil engineering program supports the mission of the institution and was developed in parallel with it. The civil engineering program’s mission is:

    1. To prepare students for an enhanced quality of life by providing an educational experience that leads to baccalaureate degree in civil engineering.
    2. To contribute to the expansion of knowledge of civil engineering through programs of basic and applied research, scholarship, and other creative endeavors.
    3. To use the special capabilities and expertise of the program’s faculty to address regional, national, and local needs in civil engineering, including the areas of geotechnical, structural and water resources.
    4. To serve the Republic of Somaliland by providing training and education that will benefit the planning, design, construction and maintenance of facilities essential to civilization

 Students completing the civil engineering program will be able to demonstrate:

  1. an ability to apply broad knowledge of mathematics, science, and engineering, technical communication, computer methods, and social sciences.
  2. an ability to design a system and conduct experiments to meet desired local and national needs. 
  3. an ability to function on multi-disciplinary teams in geotechnical, hydraulic, structural, materials, and water resource engineering disciplines.
  4. an ability to identify, formulate, and solve engineering problems with a commitment to professional and ethical responsibility
  5. an ability to use the techniques, skills, and modern engineering tools necessary for the development of the nation including low cost housing.
